Since 1940, the County Engineers Association of Ohio has worked to unify its members in providing the highest quality transportation, drainage, surveying and land record keeping services. From the safe and efficient movement of people, goods and services to continuing land development needs, CEAO strives to construct solutions for many challenges to Ohio's local infrastructure. Ohio County Engineers are responsible for 26,081 bridges and 28,970 miles of urban and rural roadways that are vital to the combined growth of jobs and prosperity in the state of Ohio.

Roundabout construction closes portion of state Route 301 in Lorain County through October

LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio — A section of state Route 301 in Lorain County is expected to remain closed for several months as crews install a new roundabout, authorities said.

The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office said Lagrange Road at the intersection of Oberlin-Elyria Road in Carlisle Township is closed because of the construction project.

Officials said the closure is expected to last about 150 days, with work scheduled to continue through Oct. 15.

Detour signs have been posted near Butternut Ridge Road for northbound traffic, while additional signage has been installed to direct southbound motorists through the area.

Lucas County engineer joins national push for infrastructure funding

LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio (WTVG) - The pothole on your street in Lucas County has a voice in Washington this week.

County Engineer Mike Pniewski is in D.C., joining thousands of county leaders from across the country asking Congress for steadier, long-term money to fix roads, bridges and safety upgrades.

“To advocate for infrastructure and to show the nation and our nation’s leaders about why it’s important,” Pniewski said.

According to the National Association of Counties, in a study released this week, counties need federal support to help close a $684 billion roadway funding gap nationwide.

Commissioners open bids for Knox County road resurfacing

MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County commissioners opened bids on May 12 for the county’s annual resurfacing program. Small’s Asphalt Paving was the lone bidder, submitting a bid of $822,263.41.

County Engineer Cameron Keaton said some roads will be a 1.25- to 1.5-inch overlay with a chip seal on top.

“The roads that are still in pretty good shape profile-wise will just get a chip seal,” he said.

County paving project bids to be posted Wednesday

LIMA — The Allen County commissioners authorized the publishing of a notice to accept bids for the contract paving of county and township roads for the 2026 County Engineer’s Road Program at their Thursday meeting.

The project involves paving 16 miles of road with 13 being beyond county roads, according to Allen County Operations Engineer Mark Droll. The total cost estimate is just over $2,151,000, and the county has an Ohio Public Works Commission grant of $1,281,384.

Fairmount bridge closed indefinitely for structural repairs: Hunting Valley Police Blotter

Effective Friday (May 15), engineers with the Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works ordered the immediate and indefinite closure of the Fairmount Boulevard bridge for safety repairs.

Officials determined a hard closure was needed, with no local traffic between Chagrin River Road and County Line Road due to failure of bridge supports.

Police Chief Mike Cannon said county engineers found “missing concrete supports that could elevate the risk of cars or trucks crashing through the bridge” at certain points of impact.
